Summer Birds and Blossoms

This work represents "Summer" from a four-panel series themed on the four seasons. Set in a garden with distinctive rocks, it features blooming gardenias, daylilies, and hollyhocks, along with vivid depictions of wild birds such as ducks, black-naped orioles and titmice. Considered Lü Ji’s greatest masterpiece, it also influenced Japanese art from the Muromachi period onward.
