Flora Spirits
Noh masks are used in Noh theater, a traditional Japanese performing art. This particular mask, crafted in the 18th century, is used to portray the spirit of a plant or an ancient deity, depicted as an old man. It has been passed down through the Konparu school, the head family of the shite-kata (lead actors) in Noh theater, and carries an air of divinity.
