This is one of a series of five ukiyo-e prints depicting scenes from the daily life of townswomen, spanning from around 8 AM to 4 PM. The "Hour of the Sheep" refers to the time between 1 PM and 3 PM. It shows one woman reclining languidly against a screen, holding a long pipe, while another sits at her feet.
